Understanding the Water Wheel Framework
The Water Wheel framework is central to the GWI’s strategy, symbolising the interconnectedness of key focus areas. At the hub is Interdisciplinary Collaboration, which powers and sustains the following initiatives:
Water Management and Treatment: Evaluation of alternative water sources, storage, and treatment methods, including safe and environmentally acceptable management of water flows within mining leases.
Technological Innovation and Integration: Ideas and methodologies to assess mining methods, equipment, and technologies, ensuring they are appropriate and effective in the context of water management.
Cultural and Social Considerations: Incorporating stakeholder concerns into decision-making on water management, building trust through transparency and participative decision-making.
Environmental Responsibility and Monitoring: Ensuring compliance with environmental standards, minimizing impacts on water resources, and evolving regulations to achieve desired social and environmental outcomes.
